The Perfect Flat Patter Making Technique Every Fashion Designer (& Enthusiast) Should Know About.
In year 2020, I came across a Fashion icon — Serah Kassim, the Founder of Serah Kassim, a made in Nigeria Afrocentric retail brand that uses Afrocentric clothing to promote beauty in African textiles for Black women.
She is a Tony Elumelu foundation entrepreneur and a 2020Hub read for Lagos state. She is someone I admire in the Fashion world.
“Fashion for me started pretty early, I had always been around Tailors growing up. From my mum to my grandma, there was always one person.
It was fascinating watching them make a dress from start to finish, the joy was indescribable.
I liked that my mum and grandma could make a dress out of just basic fabric; it was mind-blowing.
Then it started, problem upon problems, issues upon issues when it came to FITTINGS, PRECISION, and ACCURACY.” — She said.
I could relate, as I remembered vividly, when I had a wedding function to attend. I was one of the groomsmen, and you know how hot groomsmen could be.
However, my suit was literally out of it; it wasn’t just right. I really had to put it on like that, and at the long run, it ended up making the day a bad one for me.
The complaints were the same everywhere, as everyone had a problem with getting the right fit as Fashion Designers. It’s relative!
Till I found a course Serah Kassim anchored; tagged —

- With Serah Kassim’s Pattern-Making with Ease Course, you will have a “can-do spirit” for every pattern you draft and you will see errors first on paper and correct them before transferring to the fabric.
- You will, as well, learn how to take accurate measurements and use them to translate designs properly.
Serah has a gift with teaching and she really goes all in till you get it right.
